It’s All About Collaboration
RBWN sees collaboration with other community organizations and institutions as integral to achieving our mission and vision. The creation of the RBWN College Scholarship Program for graduating high school girls was an early effort to connect with the larger community throughout Rockland County’s school districts. Since the inception of the Scholarship Program, over $50,000 has been granted to young women continuing their education at institutions of higher learning. In 2016 the Scholarship Program was expanded to include a woman graduating from Rockland Community College furthering her education with an additional degree. In June 2019, we awarded the first scholarship to a woman completing a course of study at Rockland BOCES, who is continuing her education with additional training and certification. We see supporting the educational goals of women as a step toward fulfilling the RBWN commitment to working towards a brighter future for women in our community.
RBWN has awarded financial grants to RBWN members attending Leadership Rockland for the past six years. In 2019, in honor of our 40th Anniversary, we will carry our vision of enhancing the professional growth of women further by adding a new component to the Scholarship Program. Renamed the RBWN Professional Development and Scholarship Program, RBWN members attending a wide range of professional development and training programs will be encouraged to apply for tuition assistance awards from RBWN.
In addition to our efforts to support education and training, RBWN has joined forces with a variety of organizations in the region. Through these efforts we have been able to to offer joint programming; to offer our expertise as women in business to local government; to offer social/networking opportunities with sister organizations in Rockland and other counties; and to support the mission of local not for profits. Over the past few years we have collaborated with or supported:
